Mrinank Sharma, who was leading the team focused on preventing the misuse of AI at Anthropic, has resigned. He shared the letter he wrote to his colleagues also on X.
In his message, he said that given the state of the world and the many crises we are facing, he feels a need to search for deeper meaning. Because of this, he wants to step away from corporate technical work.
Interestingly, in a previous article, he had already raised concerns that the real world impact of using language models, especially from a philosophical point of view, has not been explored enough.

The main reason for this shift seems to be timing. Building a permanent settlement on Mars is expected to take at least 20 years. On the Moon, this could be possible in less than 10 years.
Another reason for the shift seems to be travel logistics. Mars missions are only possible every 26 months and take about 6 months to arrive. In contrast, the Moon can be reached every 10 days with a 2-day journey.
The company appears determined to build self-growing cities on the Moon.
Several new AI models were announced in China this week. One of them, QWEN Image 2, quickly gained attention.
It is said to produce images at a level similar to Nano Banana and to be especially strong at editing existing images. The team also claims that earlier issues with text generation have been improved.
