Monetizing AI Traffic

Cloudflare announced its new Monetization Gateway platform, designed to help content creators earn revenue from AI traffic. The product allows users to charge a fee whenever any content they choose is visited by an AI assistant or bot, granting access only once the fee is paid. This makes it easy to apply the complex payment mechanisms typically found in subscription-based, paywall-protected products to any simple visual, text, or endpoint. In short: when an AI assistant answers a question using your content, you can now earn money from it.
We’re still in an era where AI is rapidly changing how we use the internet every day. And this phase, where everything is laid out for free, has no chance of being sustainable unless new revenue models emerge. As projects like PoisonAI show, easy access to information won’t be enough: trusting the accuracy of that information will become increasingly difficult. Cloudflare’s project is promising in terms of its potential to shake up the long-standing monopoly on internet and advertising revenue. We hope it can help content creators get compensation for the work that’s been lost while AI systems were trained on it.

5 Days Left to Try Fable
Anthropic brought back Fable (the first preview of Mythos, its most advanced model yet) last week, but after July 12 it will be charged separately from the monthly subscription. If you’ve had a need you felt AI struggled with, especially in coding and planning, now’s the time to try Fable while it’s still included in your plan. Depending on your coding domain, the model can switch to Opus 4.8 for topics it considers potentially sensitive, but from what we’ve tested on standard web projects, it performs particularly well on security. You can use it to run a security assessment on any of your live projects, have it map out a defense strategy against threats, and then have Opus write that plan into code. Try it and let us know what you think!
AI’s Not-So-Intelligent Moments

On TikTok, a creator named @huskistaken seems determined to prove AI isn’t actually intelligent, and this week’s video shows what happens when 3 AIs try to work together on a conference call. Worth a watch.
Tom Riddle’s Diary

This week’s favorite vibe-coding project comes from Maxime Rivest, who turned a Remarkable tablet into Tom Riddle’s diary. We usually hear “making technology feel like magic” as a success criterion. What we loved about this project is that it flips that around entirely: turning actual magic into technology.
