Fable In/Out

Anthropic published Fable, the first version of its most powerful model codenamed Mythos, then took it down just 2 days later citing US national security concerns. The government wanted to restrict access to American users only, but since that kind of geo-restriction isn’t technically practical, they pulled it for everyone.

There are rumors that Amazon’s CEO lobbied the government behind the scenes to make this happen. The official justification: the model could be jailbroken and used for harmful purposes.

SpaceX Went Public and Acquired Cursor

SpaceX completed the largest IPO in history at a record valuation of $1.77 trillion. Right after going public, it announced the acquisition of Cursor for $60 billion. SpaceX had previously invested in the company with a purchase option. What makes this interesting: the entire deal was done in stock, not a single dollar in cash.

Cursor also announced it will launch Origin, a direct GitHub competitor, this fall.

Snap Specs Augmented Reality Glasses

Snapchat launched its AI-powered augmented reality glasses Specs at $2,195. The pitch is technology that blends seamlessly into everyday life, with use cases around technical training, entertainment, and socializing. We are not sure if these glasses are that seamless, but we understand the intention.

What gives Snapchat an edge over similar products is Lens Studio, which has been the most widely used AR development platform for years. A large existing developer community is a real advantage that competitors will struggle to replicate quickly.
