
Disney will invest $1 billion in OpenAI and give a three year license to use characters from major franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar in Sora and ChatGPT. Disney also retains the right to acquire additional shares in OpenAI in the future.
This move is not merely financial but is positioned as a strategic partnership, enabling the use of OpenAI technologies across Disney studios and products such as Disney+.
Until now, Disney had kept its distance from artificial intelligence and even filed lawsuits against technology companies over the unauthorized use of Disney characters in model training. Company now appears to have clearly shifted its stance on AI.


Instagram has announced a new app for Amazon Fire TV. With this app, Fire TV users can now watch Reels on their televisions. Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated that Instagram’s goal is to expand its TV usage, similar to Youtube and TikTok.
Based on Meta’s announcement, this app appears to be the first step in Instagram’s TV experience and similar TV applications expected to be developed for other platforms as well. While Meta suggests that “watching Reels together will be fun”, whether social media moving from a secondary screen to the main screen is truly exciting news remains open to debate.
